Greentree Garden Club

The Greentree Garden Club fosters education and interest in gardening and engages in garden-based community service. You need not be an accomplished gardener to join; you need only an interest in plants.

The Club meets every third Monday of the month at 7:00 PM. The Westside Police Station on McKenna is the site for most meetings, but some are at members’ homes and others at tour locations. Yearly dues are $10.

The Club sponsors the perennial garden at the Westside Post Office on Struck Road.  The Club also worked on the original design and installation of the Greentree Neighborhood Sign at Piping Rock Road and Whitney Way and continue to maintain the area.   Recently, members took on the maintenance of the landscaping around Greentree neighborhood park signs.

Many meetings feature expert speakers like Shelley Ryan from WHA-TV’s “The Wisconsin Gardner” or Lisa Johnson from UW-Extension. This year’s tours include one to the Chicago Botanic Garden and one to the Anderson Japanese Garden in Rockford, Illinois. Occasionally, a meeting focuses on learning a garden-related craft, and the winter holiday meeting is purely social.

The bus for the Chicago trip on Monday, August 9, 2010 still has space.  The trip, including a box lunch is $50 per person.  The itinerary is:
