Greentree Garden Club

Garden Club News
~by Bonnie Mitchell

The Greentree Garden Club has scheduled interesting, informative and fun meetings for the fall/winter months. On Monday, October 17th members will tour the International Crane Foundation near Baraboo from 3-5 p.m. The tour's cost is $7, and it will happen rain or shine. Depending on interest, members may begin the event with lunch at the Garden Party Cafe in Baraboo.

The Monday, November 21st meeting will be at the club's usual meeting place, the westside police station on McKenna Road. The "Gourd Girl," Terri Schmit, will talk about growing and using gourds. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. On Monday evening, December 12, the club will gather at a member's home for an annual holiday party.

The Club sponsors the garden at the Westside Post Office, and maintains the landscaping at the Greentree Neighborhood sign and around the various neighborhood park signs. The Club plans to repeat the successful neighborhood plant sale in spring 2012. Members divide and donate their perennials to the sale and provide advice and information to customers.

The Greentree Garden Club fosters education and interest in gardening and engages in garden-based community service. Most meetings are on the third Monday of the month at 7 p.m. Yearly dues are $10. The club always welcomes new members. Contact Bonnie Mitchell at 274-6903 or
